Adipose derived stem cell (ASC) is a somatic stem cell contained in fat tissue. ASCs are cells that abundantly exist in tissue, and therefore, they are ideal as a cell source in the field of regenerative medicine.

 

Adipose Tissue Yields an Abundance of ASC's

Compared to any other source, the vast amounts of adipose tissue (depots of fat for storing energy) especially in the abdominal region, by sheer volume of availability, ensure an abundance in numbers of ASCs ranging in the millions per unit volume. In addition, harvesting ASCs from adipose tissue through simple, minimally invasive liposuction under local anesthesia is relatively easier, painless and poses minimal risk to the patient compared to all other possible methods.

Adipose tissue ASCs (AT-ASCs) are extremely similar to stem cells isolated from bone marrow (BMSCs). The similarities in profile between the two types of ASCs range from morphology to growth to transcriptional and cell surface phenotypes.Their similarity extends also to their developmental behavior both in vitro and in vivo. This has led to suggestions that adipose-derived stem cells are in fact a mesenchymal stem cell fraction present within adipose tissue.

Stage 1:

Mini Liposuction: 

This procedure withdraws 150ml-200ml of fat tissue from the abdomen and/or buttocks performed under local anaesthetic. This procedure will be performed by one of our partnering doctors, and will take place at one of Bangkok’s leading hospitals. All transport is arranged for you and a member of our team will accompany you during this stage of the treatment program.

The mini-liposuction is performed with a very fine cannula and is classed as a minimally invasive technique, which is not the same as a full liposuction. This procedure is relatively painless and the recovery time is extremely short.

Cultivation period of your stem cells:

Your stem cells will be cultivated from the withdrawn adipose tissue. These cells will then be incubated in growth mediums to reach the required number for administration. This process is very important to reach the high number of stem cells required and also to remove the tissue type memory from the stem cells. This process takes 21 days from the lab receiving the adipose tissue, until the stem cells are ready for administration.

The mini-liposuction procedure will be completed in one day, patients are welcome to return home after completion, or alternatively remain in Thailand and we will create a treatment plan focused on rejuvenation to utilize the waiting period.

During the 21 day cultivation period:

Each patient will have a blood screening report to evaluate which therapies will be performed during the 3 week cultivation period of the adipose stem cells. Also depending on the condition being treated, such as a medical condition or for beauty/anti-aging.
